Toronto BJJ is Toronto's most highly accredited Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) academy. We have been home to several World, Brazilian, and Canadian national champions in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). UFC Champion Trainers

UFC Champion Shogun Rua's two Muay Thai coaches are now both at Toronto BJJ full time.

Dida and Muay Thai

One ofur very own competes in the most prestigious kickboxing tournament in the world. Toronto BJJ head Muay Thai coach will be in Japan to corner in the K-1 World Max Lightweight Grand Prix.  Should we win this tournament, Toronto BJJ will have been involved in the triple crown of modern combat sports, having already taken home the Absolute title in BJJ and the UFC LHW crown.

We are improving the gym yet again with the addition of removable ring posts. 


Jorge Wins Again

June 19th Montreal-

Toronto BJJ's own Jorge Britto, wins again in MMA. This time it was a hard fought decision in the W-1 promotion.  Congratulations go out to Jorge, his trainers, everyone who trains, and the tons of fans who made the trek to Montreal to watch him fight.

ADCC Toronto brings more Gold

For the third week in a row Toronto BJJers competed successfully,  this time at the ADCC Toronto event  where we took home 3 Gold  medals, a Silver, and

a Bronze.

World Championships success !!!

June 3-6 Long Beach-

Great team effort that saw us bring home another medal (this time silver in Purple belt), and three more quarter-final  appearences in Brazilian

Jiu-Jitsu's premier event.   Once again we lead the way when it comes to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in this country.

Toronto BJJ Wins Kombat Classic

Another local BJJ team championship for

Toronto BJJ. Made all the more incredible given that 12 top competitors had to sit out the tournament because they are competing in the World Championships the following week.  Toronto BJJ's Eduardo Dibb won his super fight at the event to stake his claim as the top Brown Belt in the GTA.

Toronto BJJ success in Abu Dhabi

Our brave Purple Belts made it through the Icleandic Volcano and returned from competing against some of the best black belts in the world.

Toronto BJJ @ ADCC Pro Qualifier

We did it again.  With national bragging rights on the line in Montreal, Toronto BJJ showed it is the top academy in Ontario if not Canada.  Only a combined effort by all of the academies in BTT Canada (the host team) kept us from claiming the team title.  We had 35 competitors take home 15 medals.  The highlights included one of our Purple belts claiming 2nd place in the 163 Purple/Brown and Black belt divsion, defeating a blackbelt 7-0 along the way. Another Purple belt, claimed Gold in the 183 Purple/Brown and Black belt division, winning a free trip to Abu Dhabi!!!

We are most proud of how we always support one another, we truly are a team and a family.


Jorge defends CFC title

On February 27th Jorge Britto defended his Lightweight title in the CFC organization.  Utililizing kicks and punches to drop his opponent to the mat, and heavy hands on the ground Jorge knocked out his opponent in 43 seconds.

It has been an amazing beginning to 2010:

The legendary Saulo Ribeiro teaching us BJJ for two weeks (6x world Champion, author, and instructor).

UFC star Mauricio "Shgoun" Rua's brother teaching Muay Thai.

We had a recent week long visit from Paulo Guillobel.

After his UFC title fight in Montreal on May 1st, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will be

at Toronto BJJ.

Shogun will be headlining an autograph and meet and great session Friday May 7th and teaching a seminar Saturday May 8th.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua who trained with us last summer is preparing for his October 24th UFC title bout against the champion Lyoto Machida.  Helping him with his Muay Thai Kickboxing is none other than a Toronto BJJ instructor. Toronto BJJ's head Muay Thai and MMA instructor will also be going to Los angeles to asisst in the final preparations.   Believe!!!

Toronto BJJ dominates Sub-X

Wiith resounding victories in the Sub-X superfight show, 3 fights 3 wins, Toronto BJJ showed itself once again to be the pre-eminent academy in the GTA.  Fans got a treat when Toronto BJJ head instructor Jorge Britto took to the mats, and showed his world class skills. Look out for anouncements on our first ever year end festival.

Grapplers Quest Success

Following our history making performance at the World
Championships, we competed in North America's most respected grappling circuit. Many of the world's best came out to Morristown New Jersey to play This June 27-28.  Eight adventurous Toronto BJJers went to visit the Garden State. We took home an oustanding 11 medals, including 4 gold and 4 silver.

Toronto BJJ fighter impresses in K1 World Max GP

April 21 Fukkoka Japan-

a Toronto BJJer put on an impresseive performance in a four round decision loss to legend and 2x Grand Prix Champion Baukaw (the Tiger Woods of K-1).  The bout was ruled a draw after 3 rounds, and went to an overtime 4th round.  We are so proud of our competitors showing he is one of the worlds best. 

New York International Open

REEVO Copa Ontario Success!!!

In a groundbreaking event, several hundred Kilos of food were donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. Toronto BJJ walked away with team titles in the Adult Female and Adult male categories, and also took home the Overall Team title. Congratulations to everyone who supported this great event. On behalf of Toronto BJJ and its students we want to thank Jorge Britto for bringing a world class tournament to Toronto.

With all the amazing things happening at Toronto BJJ:  preparation for a K-1 bout in Japan with World Muay Thai Champ Cosmo Alexandre, REEVO Copa Ontario, 2 more MMA victories, and the April 3rd Super Seminar, we sometimes overlook the obvious. On March 29th our Jiu-Jitsu instructor closed out his Masters division with a teamate, and then proceeded to defeat the legendary Rodrigo 'Comprido' Medeiros in the absolute. Jorge is the second person in Toronto BJJ history to win Gold at the Pan Jiu-Jitsu championships, and the first to do so at the Black Belt level.  Congratulations Professor!!!!

Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor has once again triumphed in Mixed Martial Arts.  This time via triangle in the early going of the first round.

Success Again!!!

At the recent local BJJ tournament, 33 competitors took home an astounding 12 Golds, 4 silver, and 4 Bronze medals. Once again an awesome job by our instructor Jorge Britto. Jorge may have become the first coach in local tournaments with over 20 students competing to coach every match.  Also, huge shouts out to eveyone who came to support.  Its great to see what a family we are.

Helio Gracie passes away

On behalf of Jorge Britto and everyone at Toronto BJJ, our condolences to the Gracie family. Helio Gracie left a legacy that has given life and meaning to so many. For this we are eternally grateful.

Toronto BJJ's very own MMA instructor will be cornering Maurcio "Shogun" Rua in the upcoming UFC Janaury 17th in Dublin Ireland.

Xande is here. For those of you who do not know Xande along with his brother Saulo is the head instructor of SRJJA and University of Jiu-Jitsu. Xande is known as one of the top instructors in the world and is the reigning Absolute Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion of the world.

Toronto BJJ wins Canadian Open

With a dominating performance, Toronto BJJ was once again team champions in Canada's largest grappling tournament. We took home an astounding 32 medals. The break down was 9 Golds, 10 Silvers, 9 Bronze, and 4 fourth place medals. Toronto BJJ has now swept the team titles in the past 3 tournaments held in Ontario. We now look foward to competing  agin in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in the new year.

Congratulations Guys and Gals you really showed how great you are as teamates. Keep up the good work!!!

Toronto BJJ 10 straight W's in MMA


We won another one. Ainsley Robinson moves to 5-0.  With a dominating 3 round decision victory in Edmonton.


With two competitors competing in Edmonton Alberta.  We continued our streak of consecutive victories in Mixed Martial Arts to 9 straight. Both matches were in the 155 pound division. In the first match our competitor did everything to his opponent in the 1st round but get the finish, that would come early in the 2nd round via TKO. Our second competitor was fighting for the championship belt. He knocked out his opponent with a high kick 20 seconds into the bout to claim the title. As one on looker noted. We had a wrestler dominate with BJJ and a Brazilan Jiu-Jitsu specialist win with Muay Thai.  Great things happen when you combine the best the city has to offer in BJJ, Wrestling, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Boxing, Strength and Conditioning, and MMA. Thanks go out to everyone who trains here, we are a team and a family, the results are shared by all.

Toronto BJJ team champions again!

At this past Bravado BJJ tournament Toronto BJJ conitnued its dominance of the local grappling scene with yet another team title.  Showing our depth, we were able to get more than half of our competitors to place, even though for most this was their first tournament. It is great to see once again that everyone who trains here enjoys great success.  We train as a team and a family, the results are shared by all.

K-1 Star teaching Muay Thai

Fresh off a TKO victory in K-1 Max,  he brings his world class Muay Thai kick-boxing knowledge to Toronto BJJ. He is also a top MMA fighter having reached the finals of K-1 Heroes in MMA, and has trained extensively with many of todays top stars including UFC Champion Anderson Silva, Shogun, and Wanderlei Silva.

In additon to a members only seminar, current UFC star Mauricio "Shogun" Rua has been training at Toronto BJJ this month. His next bout is rumored to be against former UFC Champion Quinton Jackson. Shogun had previously knocked out Jackson when they fought in Japan.

Success @ NAGA tournament

On August 2nd we participated in NAGA's Battle by the Beach. With nearly 2000 competitors the NAGA events rival Grapplers Quest in terms of size.  Toronto BJJ entered 3 competitors this long weekend, turning up a Gold and Bronze medal in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu divisions. This included our Purple Belt defeating a Black Belt in the final.

In one of North America's largest tournaments we entered 6 competitors and took home 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Showing the great success that all Toronto BJJ students enjoy, we medalled accross the spectrum, with our

women, men,  and teens all reaching the podium. We medalled at white belt, blue belt, and purple belt.

Toronto BJJ wins again in MMA

This Friday June 20th at KOTC in Montreal, Toronto BJJ enjoyed its seventh straight mixed martial arts victory, with a 2nd round tko in the 155 pound division.

Congratulations are in order for one of our teachers, who won the greatest prize in competitve Jiu-Jitsu when he won the Absolute division of this year's World Championship of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
